Morrissey/Smiths references in the media - Psych, Superbowl flashback show

Just now watching the endless Super Bowl segments and on the computer with the TV on in the room I started to hear the Musical intro to "How Soon Is Now?" on a segment about the history of the 49ers and it played all during the segment in the background.

How is that managed? Does Morrissey allow it? or was it part of the settlement with the former Smiths. I remember it being used in a Mazda commercial years ago also.

you hear a couple phrases and you right away think it's a morrissey reference. obviously it's just a coincidence. Morrissey is not the world.

    I actually randomly saw the first episode of this show. Very low budget...I'm talking Canadian TV low budget.

    The writer of this episode i assume is a fan.

        I mean, all judgements about selling out with music and all that jazz aside - who the hell decided that How Soon Is Now would even make appropiate background music for anything on the superbowl? It's Moz a favorite with one of the players or something? It seems so out of context there to me.
