Hello Morrissey fans,

I知 sure you値l be pleased to know that the X-Factor band Futureproof have started covering Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before.

After hearing this version, I googled it and found out it was written by Morrissey. If I知 honest I prefer Futureproof痴 version as it is more in tune and gives the song a whole new edge.

I知 sure all Morrissey and Smiths fans will be pleased with the boys effort as will the man himself. Hopefully they release it. Have a Happy New year.

Here is a link of them singing for the BBCs Children in Need concert in Meadowhall Sheffield.

Not being from the UK, I didn't know what X-Factor was... so I had no idea what wannabe boy-band R&B nightmare was in store. I think these guys could be the next Color Me Badd.

This version gives the song a new edge? Honey, if this is edgy, steer clear of "wild men" The Who, as they might kill you.

By the way, which one in the band is the bad boy and which is the sensitive one? My guess: the guy in the Yankees hat, and the one in the vest respectively.

Ok, I might disagree about the quality of the original, and also think that the fact that the poster is really backing these Futureproof guys makes it seem likely that they are actually working as the bands PR rep... but hey - it's another cover version and it might increase Moz's profile amongst the young, who so desperately need a talented musical icon to look up to!

Even if the funk-soul-brother-rap version is not to your taste: At least consider that it introduces an entirely different audience to lyrics that include 'shy, bald Buddhist' and 'mass murder' in the same line. Rather different to the usual R&B Rap b***h, h*e stuff, eh?

Some youngsters in that audience will probably be Googling remembered words from that 'weird' song and may undergo a 'conversion experience'.

Actually I'd like to see the whole X-Factor, Fame Academy entrance exam being overhauled so that only those contestants who can do a note perfect rendition of TBWTTIHS are allowed past the entrance gate, yodelling and all. What's annoying is that this took place in my home town and I wasn't there to heckle. Futureproof?!?! Proof that the future of music has well and truly gone round the u-bend. I may well be in the minority of Smiths fans who didn't actually mind Mark Ronson's version of Stop Me. However, I did think the singer he'd chosen grated somewhat when it came to moaning the lyrics in a soft porn r'n'b style. These singers take that to a new level though; what the hell is all that 'yo, yo-ing', like some terrible Vanilla Ice impersonator and who told them that the baseball capped, white boy doing hip hop lite monkey dancing was a good look? Wasn't this parody about 20 years ago. Have you not heard of Ali G? Some people are so devoid of any sense of irony, or embarassment, or taste that a spectacle such as this is enough to epitomise the utterly depressing state of Western youth in the 21st century. How can you cheer, you brainless morons?
Forget that it's a Smiths song, this band are truly laughable and should be pitied, having had their ego's and hopes for instant fame inflated by some worthless reality television show and hackneyed record industry bigwigs, who don't give a crap about originality, quality, or integrity.
The covering of Smiths songs is mainly a good thing. You don't have to like the covers, but each one highlights just how important The Smiths have been to the musical landscape and how Morrissey and Marr continue to inspire waves of more than just 'indie' kids. I take umbridge with this though. Someone behind 'Futurespoof' has clearly gone, "This song has been quite popular and it's a bit 'cool', as some bloke called Morrissey wrote the lyrics, and he's all 'vogue' these days because of the indie scene. However, Mark Ronson made it much more 'modern' so we'll do his version. Because, if you're found associating too closely with The Smiths it'll harm your 'laydee lovin' image."
I might go back and watch it again though ... for the comedy value. All bets are on as to how long it'll be before this band go the way of Steve Brookstein.
