How much do you want to bet the live tracks on the 'supposed' 2nd disc are some of the one's that are already appearing on the "That's How People Grow Up" singles?

I'll buy the 2 cd/dvd or whatever. I have stuck with Morrissey for well over 20 years and I'm not giving up on him now. It reminds me of one of his songs 'Break up the Family.' "I'm so glad to grow older and move away from those younger years." That's how I feel and I'm glad that he is still putting out good music. So he wants to make some money with this- so what! Oh, Happy Christmas everyone. 2008 will be a good year!

It's already been common knowledge for awhile that it's a live CD. Try and keep up on things if you're gonna write news stories for the main page.

re-issue repackage, it's all a game, the winner on x-factor year after year, stocking shelfs at asda last year, now selling stadiums out, shifting 100.000 singles, 5 years from now back to asda, end game......you dont have to buy anything so stop whinging and enjoy cause you will be a long time dead.

Only 3 versions of the Greatest Hits release? That's disappointing. I had hoped for 5 or 6. I just can't get enough of those fantastic value-for-money Morrissey compilations. I bought "Last of the Famous International Playboys" on 7", 12" CD and cassette when it came out. Then I bought it again on all formats on "Bona Drag", again on "World of Morrissey", again on "Suedehead-The best of", again on the CD-singles box and I'm so thrilled to get it again on "Greatest Hits". I can't wait! In fact, I think I'll buy the song on i-Tunes this evening in order to celebrate the forthcoming Greatest Hits package!

a nice person on the formus posted a link to a french website fnac. They have it as a special editon "inclus DVD" so maybe it will be some concert footage. Here's hoping.

First things first What the hell is Redondo Beach doing on there? Where's Interesting Drug and November Spawned a Monster - surely two of his "Greatest Hits".
Forget this collection - if you want the better of these tunes then buy 2004's You are the Quarry and Suedehead - Best of Morrissey c.2000

Hopefully no one will buy it, although sadly Morrissey knows fine well a fair percentage of his fans are mentally unbalanced mugs.

What I wonder is whether he cares about his fast-eroding dignity? Does Moz not realise that releasing a 'Best Of' covering just two albums in eighteen different formats and editions embarrasses him? The man is a multi-millionaire who can dictate the terms of his record contract, he didn't have to do this. Meanwhile anyone who claims he is releasing these to please the fans can never have been a victim of his postponing, cancelling or other behaviour which has shown over the years morrissey's contempt for anyone other than himself and his select band of 'heroes'.

I love the music, and I always will. But every passing day, every 'Deluxe Two Disc Edition', every shite 'Live Version' and every cancelation chips a little bit of my love for the man away.

There won't be anything left soon.

As mentioned in another post, Amazon lists the 2nd disc as "8 live tracks". How great would it be if it was the famed fist solo concert from Wolverhampton 1988 where only 8 songs were performed!? Wishful thinking, I know, since more than likely it'll be recordings from the recent tour. Does Moz or EMI own that recording?

I think the sleeve is excellent - very tastefully done.

The song selection, however, is frankly bizarre and very disappointing. Why would anybody want Redondo Beach on a package like this, particularly if, as some people here are arguing, this package is aimed at "newbies"? Redondo is among his worst covers and did not chart well. If it must be a cover, then surely the excellent "Candle" would have been a better option? If not, then go for "Interesting Drug", which makes much more sense.

Secondly, All You Need Is Me is excellent, but People Grow Up is shit, a weird choice for a single, and one that should have been relegated to a b-side.

Thirdly, and most importantly, this is SUCH a wasted opportinity to compile assorted highlights from throughout his career. For a start, only 15 songs? I bought Merle Haggard's best of for my dad this christmas and it has 26 songs on one disc spanning his career, so 15 seems paltry. Why call it "Greatest Hits"? Why not do a Frank Black and entitle it 88/08 or something? This would give much more freedom of choice. As a long-standing fan I feel this compilation could have been brilliant, but at the moment, with 7 great songs ("Gang", "Irish", "All You Need Is Me", "Sunday", "Ignore Me", "Playboys", "Suedehead") and 8 that are mediocre ("Boy Happy") to poor ("Redondo", "Forgiven Jesus" - the latter a real plodder that will kill the disc stone dead at the end, it will be no more than average. Of course, the argument has been put that this is a "hits" package to entice newbies, but the ROTT singles did not fare well and as long as "Irish" and "First" were on there, those who know him only vaguely would be enticed. Also, would it not be better to "entice" newbies with his best quality music, of which there is an abundance, absent from this disc?

more shameless money-making. As I said in 2006, if Morrissey releases another bog-standard medium-paced rock record, I am finished with him. And it looks like he is doing.

Tragic. He is becoming the kind of artist the young Morrissey would have sneered at. Of course, he's stilla wonderful lyricist and interesting character but the music has been going downhill since the quarry b-sides.

Morrissey was considered for the roles of the Scarecrow in Batman Begins movie and the Joker in its sequel, The Dark Knight.

The sad fact is we really don't want/nor need "the hits", as every devotee worth their shirt will proclaim Morrissey's best work to be a few yards off the singles, and a shedfull of hectares off the last eight or so.
If any compilation was going to be worthy of release at this juncture it would be one that highlights moments missed by the newly initiated or the rather more flippant purchaser.
There are enough B-sides dating from the last ten odd years to suprise and enlighten so many.
I will buy....but only because i always do...
