Bournemoz reports in the forums...
"That's How People Grow Up" is the new single

It will be released late January/early February, to promote the Greatest Hits lp.

Kristeen Young's vocals feature at the start of the track.

I cannot confirm the second new track on the hits disc.

I am certain Polydor will confirm the single and album details very shortly.

I work in the radio industry and have very close contacts with record companies and so on.

Extended Play? (Score:1)
All of the newly demo'd songs merit being chosen as the lead track for this single.

I wonder how much material has been written for the scheduled Autumn 08 album? These new songs bode well.

Don't need another 'solo greatest' collection as I have everything already.

It would be nice to see an old-style 'Extended Play' EP.
Maybe with LP size massively lavish photo packaging/ artwork.

I'm sick of squinting at the tiny writing on CD's. Maybe I just need reading glasses, as I'm almost as 'venerably aged' as Morrissey.

And those fantastic photos of Moz would look better in 12 inch Art-Form: Just as the various photos of 'cover stars' did on ye olde Smiths 12 inch singles back in the day.......

Maybe a 'Limited Edition' CD / EP with extra 12 inch artwork: Like the Radiohead 'In Rainbows' Box-Set? I'd pay good money for a 'collector's item'

I really miss the old days: You can't beat a good old 12 inch, now and again, fnar, fnar!!!

First of all, If and the operative word being “if” there was any connection between Morrissey and Kristeen Done, any “relationship” or what have you, then it was definitely Morrissey who ditched her because, because he just didn’t like her -- anymore.

Secondly, I think “That’s How People Grow Up” is one of his most beautiful songs. It is one of my personal favorites, I mean they are all my favorites but THPGU is above and beyond a masterpiece. I’d also love to see PARIS as the second because I think Morrissey is, as I have maintained, referring to Ireland in that song.

Do people ever really grow up? -- I don’t think they do, Not really.

      I love you Morrissey.

      Thank you and Goodnight

Too bad, this. Ok, ever since the Moz did THPGU on Lettterman it's been quite clear that it was a contender for a future single.
A pity though, since - in my book - it is by far the weakest of the four new ones Moz and the lads have been playing live. It's a bit too much standard Morrissey, too unchallenging, too unexciting.
Ok, the lyrics are top and his singing is beautiful. But for me the song itself never really... happens!
Paris is my favourite of the new ones (wouldn't quite work as a single though) and I think both All you need is me and One day goodbye will be farewell are excellent tunes with some fresh new air under their wings.
        Oh well.

Please release ALL new songs as singles/b-sides (Score:0)
I personally would prefer all of Morrissey's currently performed "new" songs to be released as singles and b-sides to his 'Greatest Hits' album because I'd rather not have heard 1/3 of his new album 8 or so months before it actually comes out...that would just be silly.

Half the fun of Ringleader was not knowing what you were getting until you bought it and listened to it...(the other half of fun was finding out that the only person who isn't slipping terribly in the Morrissey camp is Alain Whyte)

Really, it's been a LONG time (with the exception of Ringleader) since Morrissey put out an album without testing a few of the songs for it first.

I think he should keep his new songs under wraps until he's ready to promote the album they are off of...otherwise, by the time the album comes out everyone is going to be very bored with the songs.

Morrissey is set to release a greatest hits album in early 2008.

The 15-track collection, out February 4, will be proceeded by the release of brand new single 'That's How People Grow Up' on January 28.

The song was produced by Jerry Finn who produced 2004's comeback LP 'You Are The Quarry', and will be backed by live versions of 'The Last Of The Famous International Playboys', 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side' and 'Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself'.

The former Smiths singer is currently working on a new studio album with Finn, which he is planning to release in the autumn of next year.

Meanwhile Morrissey will begin his sold-out six-night residency at London's Roundhouse on January 21.

          He will then play:

          Doncaster Dome (January 30)
          Sunderland Empire (February 1)
          Edinburgh Playhouse (2)
