Hilary Duff/Morrissey connection

Hilary Duff has again mentioned Morrissey. I recall she was quoted saying, "of course I like The Smiths" in print once before.

Now, in the Dec 3 People Magazine, when asked what she is currently listening to she replies: "I'm into Feist. The new Dashboard Confessional. But a lot of old stuff. I listen to Morrissey all the time."

Add this to the apperance of a Dean Butterworth on drums on several Duff tracks and it makes one wonder...

I'm actually gaining respect for the 19 year old Hilary Duff, this cannot be!
I'm guessing her ex boyfriend Joel Madden had something to do with this influence...

So there is the connection. And the reason.

Her taste in music actually appears in her own music.
I've had the misfourtune of having to hear her early stuff and some more recent stuff and the recent stuff isn't half bad.
I'd bet money that she doesn't write anything, but at least she's picking songs with ( a little ) substance now.

PS: I still might slap her. If you search for "Hillary Duff" and "Personal Jesus" on myspace..you'll get a shock that will make you puke. I hope Depeche Mode does not allow her to put this on disc.

This site becomes more Americanised/Mcdonalds/starbucked by the day. I dont know about his pseudo-nostalgia for all things English, maybe he should take a look at exactly who he appeals to now.

used to live in the same housing apartment things as Hilary Duff and we were all playing Bop-It once (we were lasses...Bop-It was cool, OK?) then she got all jerklike and was all "I'M GOING INSIDE NOW *angry face*."
