Rumor - Morrissey in NME skin storm again?

An anonymous person writes:
I have it in good faith that Morrissey was interviewed by the NME recently to promote a free 7 inch single being offered with each copy of the music paper. However, for whatever reason, the NME have withdrawn the issue of the free cd and are currently considering whether or not to publish the interview. What reasons could they have for not publishing as Morrissey has had the offer of retracting his statements and declined this offer?

Is it a 7" or a CD?

That's a confusing little puzzle you've put together.

I suppose all might become clear if NME publish the interview, but what if they don't?

My understanding is that the interviewer severely p*ssed Moz off, which is why the wheels completely fell off.

It was all arranged prior to the interview taking place, with the plan being for an interviewer to go and do a fairly straightforward puff-piece, and get some nice easily-pullable quotes.

Instead, the interviewer went in cocky and aggressive, pushing all the buttons Moz didn't want pushed, and NME have utterly blown their not-unreasonable relationship with the guy all over again.

From a "certain source" I know what happened during this interview. Morrissey farted five times in a row, then fell asleep, then woke up and started screaming out the lyrics to Asian Rut. He has been on medication since the Miami-cancellation, and this has caused this very strange behaviour. He ended the interview by ripping his shirt, screming, and ran out of the room clutching his HULK-dvdset.

            NME's Morrissey interview - facts (Score:2, Informative)
I'm posting here to silence the noise and kill some untruths that have been published as rumour.

Yes, NME does have an exclusive interview with Morrissey about to be published. It's currently planned to be on sale on the 28th November in the UK (this is tbc). It was triggered by Morrissey's new solo dates and the plans in place for a new record contract and given our great relationship with Moz you'd expect us to be first.

I did have a discussion with Morrissey's management about doing a 7" single on the cover (as we published this year with both The White Stripes and Babyshambles.) We had agreed to make this happen but have been unable to do so because the decision on Morrissey's record label has yet to be resolved - it can't be put out on a new label when Morrissey doesn't yet have a new label.

Anything else published as rumour and conjecture is just that - unsubstantiated noise.

            Greetings from the UK.x

It's a pity this story was dished up twisted as it is really about good news. We now know that a new interview with Morrissey will be unveiled to our eyes courtesy of NME in a couple of weeks and, only for an operational blip, our intentions were being heeded to the extent that Santa Moz would have been distributing vinyl bounty with it.

Long live the friendship between Morrissey and the NME!
