Morrissey press conference in Hollywood (Oct. 1) - Pollstar

Morrissey Speaks - Pollstar

Morrissey has announced a very rare press conference for television crews at the Hollywood Palladium in California on October 1, the same day his 10-show residency at the venue commences. The singer will perform five songs followed by a question and answer period. Morrissey's residency is closing a chapter in the Palladium's history, as these will be the final 10 shows at the venue before it closes for extensive renovations.

Other upcoming stops on Moz's tour include the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan, Ill. (October 17), the Royal Oak Music Theatre in Michigan (October 19), the Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, Ind. (October 20), the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City (October 22-28), Rams Head Live! in Baltimore (October 31) and DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. (November 2).

Morrissey's current tour began 18 months ago in Tulsa, Okla. Since then the singer has performed 137 shows in cities ranging from London to Mexico City and everywhere in between.

      do musicians usually have mini-concerts at a press conference? and what's up with having the drama of a press conference? i mean, it's not like he is going to announce his retirement...lol...um....

              Press conferences by singers or groups are usually for 2 things. Either to announce their retirement (which never lasts long) or to announce a deal with a new company, in which case they are organised by the record company.

              You forgot to mention Orpheum Theater in (skanky, I know, however) Boston, October 30th.

              Would anyone be able to tell me what channel(s) it will be on, if this info is already available?

              Too bad my early 90s'VCR gave out (signaling nothing and nobody is eternal) and I don't have any other recording device - except my brain. Well, that might do it, for the mean time, at least.

              Need a ticket for Hollywood? (Score:0)
              I have one preferred ticket for Moz in Hollywood the nights of October 2, 4, 5, 9, 11, & 12. I ordered the "featured" 10 pack of tickets discussed on true-to-you.net, but I cannot attend all nights (due to work, etc.). This ticket will allow you to go into the venue FIRST, even though it is a GA concert (they are a special edition printing only for people who ordered the 10 pack--a cool souvenir of the concert). I'm not trying to make tons of $$ on these tickets...I'm just trying to re-coup my costs ($50 for each show).

              I live in the Inland Empire, so since it is short notice you can drive and come pick them up or I can try and overnight them to you (at an additional charge). E-mail me at temperatesummer@yahoo.com if you are interested.

                          It'd be fascinating to analyze the various audience-teasing strategies in the Morrissey Industry. lol. They have been so extremely subtle, there must be a team of 98 experts working on this 24/7...
                          Seriously though, I challenge the rare lecturer to say anything remotely interesting. Or even something astoundingly uninteresting he hasn't said at least twenty times before...

                          Yes, it can be about any subject, including yourself, and yes, you are allowed to prepare topics in advance, using a dictionary.

                            ...if you really want to know what it's about, but I guess it's concerning a deal with Warners. One of the main complaints about Sanctuary was the lack of publicity, so perhaps this is part of the deal...

                              Less than 800 have been sold for each show except for the final night. I think its been a few too many bites at the apple this time.

                                    Morrissey will annouce his resigning with Warner Bros, parent company of Sire Records, The Smiths & his former U.S. label. Also, the release of a two disc solo career greatest hits package, The Smiths box set and remastered Smiths albums. Finally, a few more European dates culminating with a string of London & Manchester dates before years end.
