          I hate this fu**king cover. It's horrible.
          Maybe it's because when I hear the song my brain automatically wants to hear it the original way and any other way sounds like shit.

          I'd like to know how this song is to people that don't know the original.

          It comes on the BMP XM channel (dance channel) at the gym everyday and I think it's funny that I'm hearing Morrissey lyrics at the gym.

                I am going to stick my neck out here and support Mark Ronson and his version of "Stop Me ...". I like the way he has re-shaped it as a darker northern soul ballad ... it's fun and doesn't tarnish the original in anyway whatsoever. All his choices of songs to cover are interesting and he has made a great summer album. It's also no bad thing that he has introduced younger people to The Smiths and Morrissey (and other bands). And besides, his version has met with Moz's and Marr's approval.
                There's certainly no need for some of the vitriol I have read here.

                  What I'm wondering is who gave him permission to cover the song? Do they even need permission? Does Morrissey himself grant permission for someone to butcher his song like that? Just wondering.
