Guy Pratt - so nearly a bassist with The Smiths writes an autobiography

Tingle writes:
Guy Pratt, bassist and stand-up comedian who was due to tour the USA as a stand-in for Andy Rourke - until Andy's work permit arrived, has written his autobiography.

Last Saturday he appeared on BBC radio 2 in the UK on the Mark Lamarr show to promote "My bass and Other Animals" and described how he'd been "in the Smiths for about 5 days". He described how he and others had been up drinking etc all night whereas Morrissey had gone to bed "after Dad's Army" (in the UK that TV show would typically be shown at about 6pm). After the session he went to bang on what he thought was Johnny Marr's hotel room door, but it wasn't Johnny's door - suggesting that he'd upset Morrissey and that this was the reason he didn't really join The Smiths.

Pratt has notably contributed to the recordings of Kirsty MacColl, The Associates, Electronic and Ted Hawkins.

Was he the one . . . (Score:1)
. . . with the ponytail, and Morrissey refused to go onstage with anyone with long hair, and so he cut it off . . . whereupon Andy Rourke came back? What a disappointment, bald and no band.

Swallowneck's Love For All Guys (Score:0)
Swallowneck was left feeling extremely bad for Guy when he first read of the ponytail situation. So bad in fact he actually tried to cheer Guy Pratt up with a newly composed erotic poem that was subsequently sent to his agent via first class mail...

The poem came back with a brief reply from Mr Pratt with the immortal legend "I'm not that kind of guy!"

Swallowneck laughed like a freakin' drain!!!
