The debut novel by author Rae Earl ('My Fat, Mad Teenage Diary') is apparently a semi-autobiographical account of Earl's teenaged years, in which the only saving grace of her lonely existence is Morrissey. It hasn't been published yet so I'm not sure how good a read it is, but it does mention our man so I will be giving it a go. I think the release date is 23rd August.

I agree. The eighties were a pretty tough period. Specially the last years of it. There was hatred in the air. If The Smiths didn't happen, then it could have been collective suicide.
