Letterman show boycott called

senorita incognito writes:
Calling all Morrissey fans, vegetarians and anyone else who watched Letterman's June 29th show in utter disbelief...

If you'd like to participate in the boycott of the show and its sponsors, you can find contact info and a sample letter at blog.myspace.com/senoritaincognito or amidst the July 6 comments on Morrissey's "official" myspace.

NOTE: The CBS email address (cbsmailbag@aol.com) is currently bouncing back mail because the mailbox is full. Hopefully it's full of protest letters, but just in case, KEEP TRYING!

Seriously, Letterman's been doing this schtick for 25 years. Whether you find it funny or not is irrelevant. It had NOTHING to do with Morrissey. It's part of Letterman's act. And considering this was his third appearance on the show, Moz apparently has no problem with Letterman.

It isn't like Letterman handed a bucketful of ribs to Moz and insisted he try them or force one into his mouth. I'm sure if Moz' people let the staff at Late Night know beforehand about Morrissey's disdain for meat, they would have worked together. Letterman wouldn't do something like that out of spite to one of his guests.

But why stop the boycott with David Letterman? Why not boycott the Food Network because most shows involves meat of some sort? And every local deli or grocery store that carries meat products? And then who's next? Your family? Your toddler cousin or nephew that enjoys a hot dog at family cookouts? What about the elderly people next door?

It is WELL PUBLICIZED that Kucinich is vegan---the only vegan in the U.S. Congress, in fact. The parts of the show involving the ribs were filmed the same time as the Kucinich interview~~the Morrissey performace was recorded at a different time.

Thus, if the failed-ribs joke was aimed at a guest on the show, it most likely was NOT Morrissey.

I thought it was a horrible thing to do when he had two very well known vegetarians on his show. It's like inviting a non-smoker to your house and blowng smoke in their face every time you exhale.

"I am writing to inform you of my intention to boycott CBS's Late Show with David Letterman and its sponsors until those responsible issue a sincere, public apology to Congressman Dennis Kucinich and singer-songwriter Morrissey for the public—albeit indirect—mocking they were forced to endure as invited guests on the show that aired June 29, 2007."

Surely these two men could ask for an apology themselves if they felt they´re entitled to one?!
They´re both grown-up men, one of them runs for president of the U.S.A., the other one sings & states his opinions in front of thousands of people...it seems a bit rediculous to think that they would need us to make sure they are treated the way they want to be. Besides, maybe none of them would want to come across as someone who can´t "endure" any mocking without getting a public apology. (& it´s not even a fact that the jokes were aimed at them!).
David Letterman is also a grown-up man & if you like his sense of humour or not, he´s old enough to decide for himself who he needs to apologize to. We´re not his mother.

This world could be a better place if we all tried to treat each other with respect instead of trying to make OTHERS treat other people with respect...
