realitybites writes:
THE restoration of the iconic Salford Lads Club has been wrecked after thieves climbed scaffolding to steal guttering and lead from the roof.

The Grade II listed club was left open to the elements with heavy rain pouring inside.

Volunteers and contractors have been working since Tuesday to bail rain water out of the boxing ring where plasterwork and wooden paneling has been ruined.

In a bizarre twist of fate, some individuals have swapped the Holy Name Church for Salford Lads Club and pinched the lead in the roof!
Seriously though, this is bad news for the club.

This one rings true with Swallowneck... Oh as a child he would sit at the back of the school bus and egg the rough and naughty boys on to do "dirty deeds" with their girlfriends.

How he wished the fingers of those naughty lads would wander and invade HIS personal space.

However, he cannot condone this civic vandalsim of his beloved Salford Lads Club!!!

I cannot help but wonder if the vandalism wasn't done by someone within the Morrissey community. I know there are certain fans who vandalize private property and/or steal anything Morrissey related that isn't nailed down.

I think the stealing of lead has nothing to do with the Lads club or the Smiths.

the problem is that the prize of lead and copper
is very high at the moment, so this is not a Manchester/UK prob, but also on the main land of Europe
Here in the Netherlands idiots digged out copper
cables alongside the railways, and new buildings.
Lead is found on old houses, if a city desides
to demolish old houses ,thieves already looted the lead before a brick has moved

          erm...
