He really did cancel. I just got off the phone with Ramshead. His voice was a bit raspy last night. I'm sure he's worried about harming it further...

His voice is more important than anything, but I must admit, I am crushed.

Is this a trend? Should we just all throw in the towel now?

What should we do? Sell on Ebay----NOW.

I was in line at 8AM this morning, and it became clear that something wasn't quite right when members of the stage setup crew walked by with dejected looks on their faces, telling us that they were told to go home.

I spoke with members of the crew, who indicated that Morrissey "shouldn't have played last night" and that his voice is, once again, completely gone.

The manager of the venue indicated that this was a postponement, not a cancellation, and suggested he'd been told that the date would be made up on Saturday. Of course, this seems rather unlikely with the Boston show already rescheduled on that date, so I wonder if this information was passed on just to appease him.

Fingers crossed that some (or all) of these shows are made up.

                          3 July 2007

Following last night's performance at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Va., Morrissey was seen by an ear, nose, and throat specialist this morning in Washington, D.C. The doctor confirmed that Morrissey was still suffering from a viral infection that had caused the postponement of several shows last week, and that his throat had not healed. As a result he has ordered that Morrissey not sing again before the 7th of July at the earliest. Consequently, in addition to tonight's show in Baltimore, the scheduled concerts in Atlantic City, N.J. at The Borgata on the 5th of July and Holmdel, N.J. at PNC Bank Arts Center on the 6th of July have been postponed. An announcement will be made as soon as possible as to whether it is possible to reschedule any of these shows, and in the meantime ticket holders should maintain possession of their tickets. The tour is scheduled to recommence in Boston on the 7th of July at the Bank Of America Pavilion.

When it all fell through we were obviously disappointed (i cried) We went to see Sons and Heirs and met up with Oien and Gerry (travelled from Ireland) - we had met in Germany last year at Duss gig. So at least we were not on our own in paying out a lot of money to be here. After the Wolf gig we decided that we had come this far and we should get the train to Baltimore as Oien had a spare ticket, so after checking emails every 30mins and web sites to see if gig still on we decided to set off. We arrived checked in and the news came through (3pm local time) that the gig was pulled, i cannot describe how we all felt. Gutted. After we went to the venue and asked what time they knew the gig had been pulled they said 0130. I just wish it had been posted on the net in time for all of us that travelled. Anyway, Girlfriend in a coma were a fantastic last minute stand in's (and Michelle and Bruce we would not have met if we had not gone)Going home now to live on bread and water till the end of the month... I am disappointed but his voice is his life and if you are ill you must stop until you are fully recovered. I so wanted to see him in an intimate venue, and i will, just not this tour. To Tony,Gerry,Oein, Michelle and Bruce thank you for a memorable trip and i will see you in far off places!!!

As a last minute stand in for the man himself, I can tell you folks, I was shaking in my trademark red socks last night and being on stage is as natural as breathing to me. You see, good or bad, we ran the risk of being ripped stem to stern just as a result of everyone's most understandable grief(Hey, we're still holding a tickets too)
I'm very happy to say it didn't turn out that way at all, in fact, my back is bleeding from all the pats;) We always say that this thing doesn't work unless the audience participates in the tribute as well and you lot were simply wonderful! Even in light of things it almost seemed to be a joyous event. All the lads in the band agreed - it was the hardest set yet for us to end - we all wanted to play for another hour and it was all down to you lot. I'm sure you can appreciate it was difficult for us on two counts; We were all looking forward to the show(I'm the only one who got to see the Wolf Trap show) but then to find out you've been tapped to stand in for a life long hero in 8 hours, phew! It's quite a stir of emotions I can tell you.

I could go on but, after the show, I met so many beautiful people from my mother land(Ireland), my home from home(England), Germany and, of course, all over the states. Everyone wanted to tell me their stories but nobody seemed sad about it. It seems, on some level, we were therapy for some wounded souls and I truly hope that was the case. That hour or so, talking with you all was almost on par with performing...I could have visited with you lot all night! I had an indescribable feeling last night - I think it's what it is to feel truly elated. Part of that is playing those incredible songs but most of that feeling comes from playing those individual works of art to some of the most remarkable folks on this planet. We needed a salve last night as well...and YOU provided it....we are forever in your debt!

                                      Cheers,

                                      Quinn
