The first time Swallowneck saw Jeff Buckley in a television interview he was eating a red hot veggie curry with his stumpy fingers... the appearance of this young chap caused him to drop the carton of masala onto his lap!!!

As Swallowneck screamed in agony "My cock, my cock... oh it burns, it burns!!!" I ran to get him a cold wet cloth... As Swallowneck dampened his burning crotch with it I asked him what caused him to drop the food. Swallowneck stated that Jeff looked like a guy he once had a close sexual encounter with and he thought he was on the television to spill the beans about it...

Anyway, Swallowneck's bits were a bit red and sore for a few days, but he now assures us that there was no lasting damage.

Buckley is a deceased legend, but a legend nonetheless. What he was able to accomplish with his voice in a relatively short period of time is amazing.

I know that his guitarist Michael Tighe has been quoted as saying that Jeff thought that there was no one better than Morrissey, and Jeff also reminisced about first hearing "How Soon Is Now?" for the first time. I also wondered how someone like Morrissey couldn't have fallen in love with an artist like Jeff, but Moz sometimes seems to distances himself from potential rivals.

I fell in love with Buckley at the height of my Morrissey infatuation, and the two made perfect sense to me as artists who used their voice as an instrument. Jeff was the only other artist that I felt as drawn to at the time, and he almost single-handedly introduced me to the potential of other artists through his stunning cover versions.

It's exciting to hear that his appreciation for Morrissey and The Smiths will be promoted in the form of a single.

All in all, what an utter waste of talent.
