Thought it was worthy of note that in the Sunday Express 13th May "The Best of Sandie Shaw" largely featuring tracks from a 30th April 1986 Town & Country gig was given away free. Track 3 is the Morrissey/Marr penned "I Don't Owe You Anything", track 7 the Shaw/Langer song "Steven", apparently about the great man himself.

On 20th May the second half of this compilation is given away in the Sunday Express and it features Morrissey/Marr's "Jeane" & "Hand in Glove", again from the 30th April Town & Country gig.

I also noted that Mark E Nevin (whom I presume backed Sandie at the gig) gets a mention from Sandie on the introduction to track 4. Mark then went on to work with Morrissey a few years after this recording.

That's Swallowneck's Desire... (Score:0)
Again, Swallowneck will embrace this cd to hear the heavenly Sandie Shaw namecheck his dear Mark E Nevin!

I once asked him what the "E" stood for in his name... Swallowneck purred, licked his lips and simply said "E is for EASY!"

I bought this newspaper last Sunday and listened to the free CD and was amazed at how shockingly horrible it was (no wonder it was free!!). Most of the recordings were done live so that may have something to do with it. I will be listening to the 2nd CD this Sunday, just to see if this one is as bad. By the way, this newspaper is my regular Sunday paper so I am not buying it just for the crappy CD.

    Don't buy it (Score:1)
The Sunday Express is a disgrace of a newspaper and has been run into the ground by its greedy owner, for whom profit is the only concern. It's run on a shoestring budget and frankly, it shows. That's probably another reason why the CD was so shoddy

All the Smiths songs on this freebie are Live versions. And she cannot sing to save her life! I am sorry to say but her singing is dreadfull.
You are better off by buying her album "Hello Angel" which has all the Smiths songs (Jeane, Glove, Dont own You Anything) as extra tracks.
I think you can get it @ HMV for £8.99.
