A lesbian shop assistant is in line for more than £120,000 after leaving her job because of a colleague's taunts about her sexuality.

Marlene Bielak, 34, suffered months of bullying from Katrina Davies, 27, who would constantly play a Morrissey song called All The Lazy Dykes at the store where they worked.

Matters came to a head when an argument broke out between the two women.

Mrs Davies, a practising Jehovah's Witness, pushed Miss Bielak and started shouting and swearing at her, calling her a '******* dyke'.

A tribunal also heard that she would play the Morrissey track every time Miss Bielak came into the stockroom at the Next store in St Helens, Merseyside.

it's funny knda...but also sd that someone used morrissey in this way.

what's sadder is if the jehovah witness who played the song is a big morrissey fan. why are there so many asshole morrissey fans?

    Wow, she got paid £120,000 for listening to a Morrissey a song! Fantastic.

    Marlene Bielak, 34 (I wonder why they always feel it necessary to put someones age) will probably see it from a different viewpoint to my simplistic and somewhat thoughtless one though.

    Lazy Dykes was fantastic live at the MEN BTW.

      What's a practising Jehovah's Witness doing listening to Morrissey? Surely for that, she's prohibited eternal life:

      Mind you, by the time I get to the pearly gates, Tony Blair will have privatised them and nobody will be able to get in without a bank loan.

      What's not a laughing matter is the fact that the 'popular' press might seize on this story and joke about how she was compensated for having to listen to Moz ... Let's hope my manager doesn't get hold of it, I'll be pilloried for weeks.

      That's horrendous. I've always associated his music with kindness and empathy. It sucks that someone could use it for the opposite intention.

        If she wasn't pulling her weight in the stock room and was indeed being lazy, and indeed was a certifiable lesbian, then the plaintiff really has no foundation for a case here....

        I can smell Gunpowder (Score:0)
        What i'm about to tell you is true and this happened to me.

        If you cast your mind back to the "Imprtance of Being Morrissey " documentary on channel 4 a few years ago. In one of the clips Morrissey quotes "I can smell gunpowder". Anyway I repeated this quote at my place of work to my colleague at the time. The next day 2 people lodged a grievence stating that my comment "I can smell gunpowder" some how was a threat. I had to attend a disciplinary hearing and explain myself. I even brought the documentary into the hearing and played it to the managers at the hearing. Any way I got a written warning (after appeal) for quoting Morrissey.

        First canceling a reality show because it had reality on it, and now this? Even when you guys try and copy America you seem silly.

          The 'live' version blew me away- (Score:1)
          Dear Friends,

          I never cared much for the song musically or lyrically. BUT- when I saw Morrissey perform it live at the House of Blues in Chicago-- I was BLOWN AWAY. To me, this song was the pinnacle of the show. He song this song with great emotion- he was aching, sweating, and very emotional. You would have to be there to understand. It was the highlight of that show, and it almost brought me to tears.
