The Bookseller has a short article this week about a new series published by Serpent's Tail:

"Mancunian post-punk band The Fall will be the first subject in a series of short story anthologies inspired by rock and pop bands".

The article goes on to say that there will be six titles in all and the subjects decided on so far are Sonic Youth, The Ramones and The Smiths.

However, this is a very advance warning, as the next book won't be released until April 2008 and that will be the Sonic Youth anthology. So I guess we can look forward to The Smiths one sometime in 2009.

You can see The Fall anthology here.

Mark E Smith has written the foreword, so I assume that when it gets round to putting The Smiths one together, the publishers will ask Morrissey to scribble an introduction.

i couldn't possibly..my bookshelf's battered and buckling beneath the stacks of collected books on all things Smiths ( and my other obsessions ) related. not one more damnable book shall i buy on the subject, in order to avoid the collapsing of 20 years, 7 months and 27 days worth of books and ancient NME's from raining down upon me.
