During the Decemberists' show at Manchester Academy 2 on 5th Feb, someone in the crowd shouted "Do a Smiths cover!". Colin Meloy quipped that "When you play in Paris you have to speak to the crowd in French, and when you play in Manchester you have to do a Smiths cover."

Then, during the encore, at the end of 'Eli, The Barrow Boy', they played 'Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want', much to the amazement of the crowd.
