Stars add voice to Burberry closure protest - icWales
Feb 4 2007
James McCarthy, Wales on Sunday

Excerpt:

A HOST of big name singers - led by Morrissey, Charlotte Church and Neil Young - have added their support to the Burberry workers' campaign to keep their jobs.

This week their fight reached cyberspace with the ex-Smiths frontman and legendary rocker Neil Young among those listed as friends on a Keep Burberry British MySpace site.

    Wayward Fashions Of Swallowneck (Score:0)
Swallowneck used to frequent the "glamourous" toilets in Halifax bus station on Saturday afternoons wearing a Burberry jacket... that is until he was issued with a fine for reasons he's never disclosed to this day!

Can anybody shed any light on this issue? (Score:1)
Suspecting this not to be true, I wrote to Wales on Sunday asking if they could if confirm Morrissey has given support to the campaign to keep Burberry British, as they claimed.

They did not respond, so I telephoned them to ask in what way he had offered support. They claimed that he offered support via his official Myspace page and would not comment further. Looking at this website, I can not see anything supporting Burberry. As I don't subscribe to Myspace, I can't read historic blogs. Has he offered any support?

My gut feeling is that James McCarthy has not done his research and this is a cock-up.
