Apparently Morrissey is not to participate in the Russell Brand radio programme tonight but is being sought for interview on same over the next couple of weeks.

It will be on the BBC site and it's well worth a listen. It's about 40 mins long and covers a lot of the same issues usually in his interviews, vegetarianism (he's not one, he just doesn't eat things that used to live), bands today (don't say anything new), New York Dolls, an interesting discussion about art and Jennifer, who has to speak for him on occassions when he can't think of the words. I'm a big Russell Brand fan as well but this is an interesting, funny interview for any Morrissey audience member (or fan). I can't wait to see him appear live now!

Russell promised before the interview that it would be Morrissey's most revealing interview and he wasn't kidding.

Revealing Fact #1-- Morrissey has a new manager named Jennifer, who amongst her general duties is also expected to finish Morrissey's thoughts on command. Outrageous :)

Revealing Fact #2 -- At the end of the interview, Morrissey somewhat begrudgingly signs an autograph for Brand. Russell claims that he plans to show up at one of the concerts, to which Morrissey warns that if he ever shows up at any of his concerts, he plans to add on extra security.

Other than that, Morrissey sounded good. The usual topics were discussed: the drabness of the current music industry, Jamie Oliver, living life day by day, his Mexican fanbase and Victoria Wood's "Wood & Walters" show that was briefly on in the early 80s.

One of the more stranger revelations had to do with Morrissey describing himself as a "chocolate and crisp" vegetarian, which is somewhat of a contradiction to what he had been claiming recently. Other than that, Brand kept the interview rolling and the mood in general was jovial and he even let Morrissey interview him.

So, for the folks going to the shows to see Morrissey "when he appears live" (silly running joke in the interview) look out for Russell.

Sweet mother of mercy, how long is this program?! (Score:0)
I'm listening now (not live, obviously). This Russell person, who's really irritating, mentioned that the pre-recorded Morrissey interview will be played in the last half hour of the programme, but it doesn't tell us how long the whole show is. Thank goodness you can skip forward 15 minutes at a time...

Lucky swine. I listened to it twice. If you download the show you will have the pleasure of hearing it again and again whenever you want, but it's only available for downloading till Friday and you don't get all the music so it's worth it.
