Morrissey himself brought AMERICAN politics into his stage banter, so I see NO reason why I should not mention it in here.

That would have occurred to you, I would think; or, did you just arrive?

I'm not too fond of the Democrat Harold Ford--he is pro-gun, anti-abortion and FOR the incredibly stupid and irresponsible federal marriage amendment. But there really is no other way for a black man to win here, sadly. The important thing is that the Dems take the majority, then individual members won't matter as much.

To all the Brits here who hate George W. Bush and his policies, just know that you couldn't possibly hate the Repiglicans as much as those of us non-idiots here in the US do. We have to live with that shit day in and day out.

This is what the Republicans stand for. Let's hope that there is enough of a backlash from that to turn the tide in our favor a bit!

pss--I don't think Morrissey would have any problem with us discussing politics here, especially not right now. So anyone who doesn't like it can fuck off.

You really are a prick, aren't you?

Not wanting to leave anyone in any doubt after your previous posting here, you've certainly cleared up any ambiguities.

Bush is not even that popular in his own state, never mind his country; and that's before we start on the UK and the rest of the world's opinions of him.

His pedigree is poor, his judgement is pedestrian (at best!), and he has made a total bollocks of US-World Politics, especially as the world's only 'superpower', IMO. But then, he's not the first world leader to do so, and won't be the last. (And don't get me started on Blair!)

The Republicans are about to be toasted in the mid-terms, but it will make, to use your phrase, jack-shit difference to Bush's outlook, views, and ideas.

How about the constant battering handed out to ROTT on this site by American "fans", and the fact that ROTT has sold poorly over there.
Or maybe it's the fact that this is an American based website, which has upset Morrissey so often with it's bullshit "stories" that paint Morrissey in such a bad light.
So let's look at the evidence:

                                              1) Belligerent Ghoul constantly posting about how shit ROTT is compared to YATQ. He also never seems to tire of stating that ROTT is Morrissey's "gay" album".

                                              2) Loafing Oaf posting again and again and again about how awful and stupid Morrissey is as a person, and how ROTT is a "bunch of crap".

                                              3) 'Suzanne', yet another American, who posts shit about Morrissey every day on some thread or other.

                                              4) David Tseng, our beloved webmaster, who has turned his site into a tabloid-esque cesspit, and allows "anonymous" posters to post the most vicious and disgusting lies about Morrissey, and anyone connected with him.

I could say more, but you get the general idea.

Most American Morrissey fans, I'm sure, are good people, but unfortunately it's the disgruntled minority that are being heard loudest.
Is it any wonder that Morrissey doesn't want to visit your country?

You make some good points, my friend, but surely one should not decide one does or does not tour based on these criteria (with the exception of your intro point about ROTT's poor sales).

                                                  1. Individual comments on here should surely not influence choice of cities/countries - surely plenty of UK fans were initially less than overwhelmed by ROTT on 1st listen, weren't they?

                                                  2. Although this website is US-based, there will (apologies for all this guess-work) be probably more non-US fans out there/here, especially of course in Britain and Europe (perhaps based on your own comments about ROTT sales?).

                                                  3. Those who shout the loudest do frequently get listened to the most, you are right - but, again, the great man will rise above the snipings of the disgruntled minority.

                                                  4. I don't consider myself a critic of Moz - I am, like you, a fan - but it is surely his idiosyncrasies, provocative comments, and occasional lack of clarity on certain subjects, that invites critiques from observers, journalists and fans alike.

                                                  5. There would be more justification (although still very little at all) in denying US fans a chance to see him because of the idiot in the White House, than there is in not wishing to play because of four loud, if influential (I don't know if this is true) posters on this site. As threads on the Forums have discussed, Moz is a big critic of Blair, as we know, but didn't decide to penalise British fans as a result.

A little bit more clarity - despite all the great spring/summer interviews - wouldn't have gone amiss. For a brilliant lyricist + spokesperson, Moz is sometimes a little difficult to understand.
