In the Culture section of today's Sunday Times (Irish edition) Mark Edwards refers to Everyday Is Like Sunday in an article on great songs about ordinary subjects. Referring to Tony Hancock's 1950s radio sketch which 'details the longeurs of a boring Sunday afternoon', he goes on:
'Doubtless, Morrissey was well aware of Hancock's every yawn and sigh before he crafted Everyday Is Like Sunday, with its tale of trudging over wet sand in a rainy seaside resort, writing postcards and drinking endless cups of tea'.
