Amongst the clips shown on the video-c showcase this week, The Dears are featured with their new single “Ticket to Immortality”. The publicity script accompanying this says that they have been described by the NME as "Marvin Gaye fronting The Smiths while the London Philharmonic Orchestra has a stab at the Burt Bacharach songbook". They have admitted their indebtedness to Morrissey as an influence before; they have supported him a couple of times already, and will again be amongst his special guests at the upcoming Marley Park concert in Dublin on 22nd August.
