I agree, the wit is still there but not as self-consciously. It's like he seems more close and doesn't mind that too much. I couldn't quite understand "God forbid I can ever refer to "the audience" without it being printed as "my fans" - a term I would never use - not even under anesthetic." There's no doubt The Smiths myth hangs over him. Ringleader is, on its own merits, an awesome album, and his current band is immensely talented. Hopefully they will get more credit for this on the next album.

Gaudi's buildings in Barcelona, for one, should provide an antidote to loneliness. Their stones seem inhabited by spirit, amazing. His tales of meeting the writer there etc are generous. The Madeley riposte is pure inspired Morrissey invective; always one better!

That was very sweet, almost like a personal letter from him. Changes between now and this time next year will be interesting to follow.

Morrissey's posting on True to you had me laughing out loud. I think it gave a great insight into how he is thinking currently and also how grateful he is that the fans have supported him even though mainstram radio continues to ignore him. He is obviously very proud of Ringleader as he should be but I suspect he felt it should have been better and more widely received. The only comment I was slightly disapointed with was his insistence that the current band are the most talented he has worked with. I feel Alain deserves a mention after all he has done for Moz in the past but alas Alain is now playing to 200/300 people max and covering some smiths songs.

I must agree that it always annoys me also that journalists cannot review Moz's solo output in isolation without referencing THe Smiths. I dont think thats fair. Paul Weller Ian Brown are artists that never seem to have this problem.

Richard Madely comment was hilariousand also Barcalonley. Really enjoyed the read he is sharing with us exactly how he feels which he really never has done before so true to you.net finally has some use

Trying to get a "final" date in Lux sure sounds like that's where he wants the tour to end. Plus with the poor sales of ROTT in the US, record company problems, Boz's US tour in Sept, and absolutely no rumors from venues and promoters circulating (some saying offers were withdrawn last month)...I'm giving up hope of tour extending past August. You could re-create that fantastic journey, and bring the US a much-needed aesthetic kick in the arse. Yes, we are under a proto-fascist regime, hence the need for a bit of emotional back-up. I promise that you will be greeted with the proper amount of respect and hysteria in New York and L.A. at least.

Ringleader actually gets lots of play on satellite radio. A very fashionable boite here in New York has been playing Pigsty regularly.

The best part was about his casting in a film with Alec Baldwin--who thought that was a good idea? has anyone involved with that movie seen a Morrissey video?--playing a music teacher. Someone who cannot sing and can't play piahnohhr is a music teacher is too good to be wasted.

I am writing this in the city of Barcelona where, many years ago, I discovered the American writer James Baldwin sitting alone and somewhat lost in the darkened lobby of one of the city's oldest hotels. Surprised at being inches away from such a great man, I froze in sheepish clumsiness, circled him eleven times, before I realized that he could not possibly have any interest in being approached by someone who had spent all 25 years of their life locked in an attic because too awful to look at. So, I did nothing, walked on, and shortly thereafter he was dead. Yet another lesson.

Wheneevr his wife speaks, he cuts her off too... He is all important!!! Steve Coogan (Mancunian comedian) does a character called Alan Partridge, who is very like Madeley...

The majority of the army that you hire to carry out your wishes are female. For example, in the end, you took a preference to Julia over DavidT.
