Mrs. Woolf writes:I know most of you might not be interested in a bunch of French blah, blah, blah, but I thought that you might want to know at least the face of the name that Morrissey mentions in "At Last I Am Born", Claude Brasseur. I thought he was was "under the ground" like many of Moz's idols and gods, but he is alive, and very surprised and bewildered that he got mentioned by such an exquisite and interesting pop singer. If you go to youtube.com and type "Claude Brasseur Talking About Morrissey On French TV", you'll see a cute French girl with bangs giving Brasseur Morrissey's biography, hardly refraining from interrupting everybody else (acutally she goes on and on with her story of Moz). She then emphasizes the complexity of Moz's lyrics, the work that it takes to decipher their message (something the French love to do) and she gets Brasseur more and more hooked. Towards the end of the "introduction", a famous Morrissey's single is played and Brasseur loves it - and a crowd (of French people, never having heard of Moz before and of all ages!!) goes so bonkers they throw their arms up! Well, for anyone interested in intercultural relations...The best sentence pronounced in the show is something like "Moz is very bizarre, but this is because we love him".
