"With albums like 'The Queen Is Dead' and 'Meat Is Murder', not mention their unique style and offbeat take on the world, The Smiths were voted NME's most influential band of all time a few yearts ago.

It's no light honour, they've changed the lives of Noel Gallagher, Pete Doherty and Alex Turner... but now NME wants to know how they changed YOUR life?

Do you have the world's biggest Smiths shrine in your bedroom? Are you a Morrissey lookalike? Did hearing 'The Queen Is Dead' inspire you to form your own band? Have you made a pilgrimage to Salford Lads Club - and have the pictures to prove it?

          Honestly, it's Julia Riley AND Jose Maldonado (Score:2, Insightful)
          I propose a "tie."

          Let me explain, fellow fans and friends.

          Anybody with a medulla oblongata knows that the two biggest fans of Morrissey (in the entire world) are Julia Riley AND Jose Maldonado. Their devotion is impeccable- regardless of what your actual opinion might be.

          I have met Julia. She is very nice and very cordial. I was flattered that she spoke to me so nicely. Nobody else at the House of Blues (in Chicago) was as cordial as Julia (to me). Others were nice- but she made me feel "welcome." Does that make sense? I am 32, and I have been a Morrissey/Smiths devotee since age 12. Will nature make a man of me yet?

          I have never met Jose Maldonado. But he is highly articulate and very kind (I understand). I have never seen live his cover band.

          Both of these individuals have really inspired legions of Morrissey/Smiths fans. I don't know anyone who can "beat" them at their inspirations.

          Nobody's perfect- but let's give credit where credit is due. Yes, I am jealous in many ways, here- but Julia and Jose have to win any prize involved with being a fan of Morrissey/The Smiths.
