Morrissey to be on Parkinson? (ITV UK talk show)

A contact within ITV informs me that Morrissey's PR people have been in contact the production company that produces UK TV talk show, Parkinson to enquire about a possible appearance.

The show is due to come back to UK TV screens on March 4th for another series, after the last finished in December.

Many consider Parkinson to be the most dignified talk show on UK television as the host, Michael Parkinson, has been in the talkshow game for many years and has interviewed many celebrities, including legends such as Muhammad Ali, Billy Connolly, John Lennon, Luciano Pavarotti, Rod Stewart, Richard Attenborough and Paul McCartney.

Terrible brown-noser, and past it completely. However, Morrissey would be the first decent guest in about 15 years.

If this is true then maybe Morrissey , at this stage of his career is looking for wider acceptance.
He has always refused to pay lip service to the industry- and perhaps hindered his own career (although selfishly i'm glad he did).
Maybe he secretly rues missed opportunities, or has mellowed and with this new album he hopes to redress matters..

          It Would Be Great! (Score:0)
Yes, Parky is a dreadful sycophant and has a penchant for total coffee-table bore music, but he does conduct fairly probing and revealing interviews, so I would love to see this.

At least it would be better than Jonathan Ross, who can only banter about like something out of a bad Carry On film and manages to extract nothing of interest from his guests.

Agree with most of the replies. Parkinson is a terrible interviewer who really hasn't got a clue. Totally over rated by 'TV people' in the UK in my opinion.

Still, if he is on it, it will be 'interesting' to say the least!

actually might be a good idea (Score:1)
at first I thought "no!" but Parkinson's laid-back charm and reserved style might give morrisseya platform to be his eloquent, witty self; that particular Morrissey found it difficult to fit a word in edgeways on Wossy's show.

Who cares what Moz haters think? They hate him and if they hate him a little more after the show, so be it. I think Morrissey would feel much more relaxed with Parkinson once he got settled down and would probably feel less on edge.

The downside - if that's what it is - would be Parkinson's probing personal questions. If Moz goes on his show, he'd have to agree to play the game. You can't go on parkinson then moan about personal questions - can you?

Whatever happens, I'm sure he'll do better than meg Ryan!

I presume Parkinson still has guests that just sing and aren't interviewed, long time since I've watched.

I'd have thought that would be more likely. Can't see Moz wanting to join in the banter with the other guests either, unless he gets to pick them himself.
