Touts and the venues/promoters responsibility. (Score:1)
There really is nothing the venues or promoters can do. The problem is the facility of Ebay for selling these tickets on. If the touts were stuck on the street with them they wouldn't want so many and true fans would get them for face value. Touting is not a new concept but to be able to do it through Ebay, where no doubt touts bid on their own and other touts auctions to increase prices, is far too easy for them. I don't think even a true fan would return a ticket for a sold out show to the original place of sale if they had a spare anyway.

I was recently at King Georges Hall and met the manager. I asked him about the rush for Moz tickets and he said that not only did the venue itself receive very few to sell, but the promotors, SJM, withheld 25% of the tickets (roughly 500). What SJM do with them is anyone's guess. But I imagine they've done that will all the venues on the tour so it's no wonder so many people were disappointed.

      Allocation of Tickets (Score:1)
Similar thing happened at the Sage. SMG witheld a percentage of the tickets - with the venue only getting 500 to sell (this is out of a 1700 capacity). Yes questions should be asked regarding allocation of tickets. E-bay have come under some pressure recently - and perhaps concert tickets will go the same way as football tickets and be banned, but perhaps I am being too optimistic. A return to pessimism beckons I feel!!
