i admit that rupert everett is certainly not bad looking in the slightest and i don't mind watching his movies, but just because he's british doesn't mean he is a good choice to play morrissey.

is it really an untapped market? as "my life with morrissey" has officially become the movie that won't die, exactly who out there can massage down a life full of question marks into a film that is definitive?

sure, i have Movie Magic software and wouldn't mind a shot(!) but who wants the responsibility of avoiding potentially pissing morrissey off? not me!

Who in their right mind, would think that Morrissey would ever give permission for a film to be made about his life.

A film would have to be much more than the public persona we all know so well. Morrissey would never allow something that would attempt to delve deeper into his very highly guarded private life.

Rupert Everett is too old -- it needs to be someone who can play Morrissey during The Smiths era -- Moz's early 20's; who can also age well with the right makeup. The bigger concern would be having a believable actor/singer who can channel the "old and wise soul" that is Morrissey and still look the accurate, young age. The later years wouldn't be as difficult since Moz has aged so gracefully. Gosh, wouldn't it be glorious to see an auteur brilliantly convey the special time that was the rising of the The SMiths. I hope he or she would create an oscar-caliber film worthy of it's subject.

Tom Cruise as Morrissey Kevin Spacey as Johnny Marr

Have a mock Morrissey/Marr reunion (in present day) as a movie.

Cast Quentin Tarantino as Moz (only if he can swing the Brit accent)

and John Cusack as Marr.

This way, age won't be an issue, and you all can have your "woulda", "coulda", and "shoulda"'s on screen and answered.

Sorry Fallon, can't agree with your choice for Rupert solely on the basis of his Britishness though.

the only person I can see managing to play Morrissey would be Leonardo Di Caprio. I don't think anyone else has the acting range, the engimatic quality or the ability to play both strange and charming/captivating as Leo showed he could do with "Aviator." Unfortunately, he doesn't quite look right, couldn't really do a quiff, and can't do accents.

Rupert Everett is a possibility thought.
