First of all, why would Morrissey answer questions on a fan site when he can have his own *official site*- ?

Secondly- the last time I checked- Julia's site was 75% "a work in progress"- Meaning, 3/4ths of the site was not even up and running!

Lastly, why should anyone even trust Julia? I know she is very nice, but who wants to really go through her to reach Morrissey? It's almost like asking St. Jude for intercession. I'm sorry if I sound angry!

I know Julia is very nice- but what education does she hold? It sounds like a degree in journalism- but the website she runs is straight out of kindergarten at this point. I harbor a great deal of resentment for someone who can afford to reach Morrissey with extravagant gifts; it is almost like a slap in the face. Again, Julia is a very nice person- I don't want to sound insulting- but where is this all coming from???

          Sincerely-

Julia's site is nothing but Morrissey worship, allowing for no dissenting opinions. It appears that she will censor anything short of praise for Morrissey. I prefer a forum that allows for discussion and criticism (hopefully intelligent), even if I don't agree with others' opinions. How boring to read nothing but "comments reflecting respect and appreciation for [Moz]"! A place in which unpopular opinions are not allowed is only a breeding ground for cultists or general ignorance.

I suspect that Julia's site will appeal very much to those who prefer to disregard any opinions with which they don't agree. Expect a high proportion of Christians and American "patriots."

Listen, Julia has been here LONGER than a lot of you, for lack of a better term, "newbies" that happened to pick up a "Best Of" album and now claim to be a "true" fan. Julia and David T., for that matter, have been doing fanzines long before this whole internet bullshit ever started up, so don't begin to think for a minute, that just because you have an email address and can post anonymously, that you're in any way profound. I'm here to tell you, you're not. Don't be jealous or hate Julia, what the hell has she done? But give you, or rather, share her passions with you? And now, when we might have a possible oracle to speak through to Moz, you're gonna bitch about it? Fuck! Sic Transit Gloria! Is nothing sacred? Give her a break. Try it out. You don't like it, or her, fine, nobody's got a gun to your back. I'm so sick of the bitching and complaining and evil-speaking or "trolling", if you will. If you've got something to say, say it! Sign your name, what are you afraid of? Don't just write, act like, and be a little bitch. Bitching about this and about that. Morrissey does it, and it's charming. You Are Not Morrissey!

Anyway, I digress. I'm not saying I'm perfect or anything, but quit talking shit about Julia! You don't know Morrissey, who are you to say he doesn't like Julia and wants to give her credit, and validation for all the hard work and sticking by him through thick and thin? Don't be fucking jealous! She is True To Morrissey, and apparently, he is True To Her. Don't be jealous. Embrace it, embrace her, and enjoy the music, the man, and the future. For fucksakes, a new album is coming, Morrissey might be willing to answer some of our questions! And you're complaining? You know who you are... Get a fucking life!! The Smiths is Dead. Viva Morrissey. That's all I have to say(for now).
And to Julia, you just keep on doing what you're doing-some of us Morrissey fans are behind you 100%.

However Julia seems to be intending to upload the dialogue on the TTY website, maybe on an ongoing basis (if we behave ourselves!), which is an entirely new and animated departure that should give us hours of fascinating fun and insights. Does anyone know this for sure?

Anyway, since Julia or someone will have to screen questions, if only for volume alone, we might as well send in whatever occurs if they seem appropriate and reasonable I suppose. I’m sure that stars generally depend on other assistance when sorting messages at a public interface like this. Between us though, we should be able to stimulate the equivalent of a very interesting interview, which have so thrilled many of us in the past, that will probably be reported in the most switched-on media outlets the world over! Given Julia's love (read: deification) of Moz, why would she "pretend" that she could get answers from him unless she had direct approval from him? Do you REALLY think she would jeopardize her cozy relationship with Moz to post some bogus or unauthorized "answers" to questions on her website. C'mon.

I, for one, think we should use the fact that Julia is currently on Moz's good side to our benefit. Given her undying devotion, we can be reasonably confident that anything presented on her site is "approved" by the man. Once again, Moz can directly communicate with his fans. We should be happy, not bitter. This is great news.

Wouldn't it seem weird to have a sincere dialogue thru this site, then in the forums have all that non-Mr. M extracurricular commentary about Israel and Palestine, how stupid or not stupid it is to work with Tony Visconti or whichever skinhead drummer.... Just seems safer to do the dialoge on an all-Mr. M site, in case new fans check it out, etc. Morrissey-Solo surely must intimidate many folk! (and I mean that as a compliment). Let the buffer buff. Or is she a fluffer, too?

I just switched on the TV to that programme about Sex in British pop on BBC2, to hear the strains of “Panic” over footage of street riots. Johney Marr was featured, who explained that it was largely anger at the social and political circumstances that drove The Smiths to use music as a vehicle of dissent, and as an aid to escape and getting rid of all the labels. He said that yes, they made music for those people who felt dissociated from the mainstream, but also for ordinary working people. During an interview at the time, Morrissey said that while each song had a serious message, each also incorporated great humour. A clip was shown of Morrissey ripping off his shirt while singing - ”William it was really Nothing”. Other commentators contended that Morrissey was then flirtatious but coy; touchable but unavailable with his celibate identity which, compared to the frothy New Romantics, represented a subversive interior androgeny that could be deeply threatening, enough to encourage inhibited people of different lifestyles to express themselves.

After covering some gay bands, e.g. Frankie goes to Hollywood, reference was made to Morrissey’s solo career over concert footage, and the ensuing mayhem of especially male adulation in response to his unique ability to articulate male vulnerability, was attributed to their need for ritual communication with him that would allow them get in touch with themselves. Sandy Shaw read homoerotism, often overlooked, into his songs, as if he was holding onto an undecided student-like ambiguity about sexuality, exemplified especially by “how he was”, beyond his work.

I think I might have missed some at the beginning so maybe someone can fill us in if so. It would be nice to see this again if anyone knows how. This small summary may trigger a few more worthwhile questions!
