Q Magazine bitch about ROTT
posted by davidt on Thursday November 03 2005, @10:00AM

An anonymous person writes:
Five months before the event, Q Magazine have written a short preview of 'Tormentors' in their 'Upcoming Albums' section.

They call Moz "old misery guts", say that his decision to record in Roman catacombs is "bizarre" and say that it's "lucky" for Moz to have T Visconti on hand to "drag the album into the twenty-first century".

Evidently John Harris is sharpening his quill already.

I think you have to face the fact that some people in the media find Morrissey very annoying so there is bound to be a bigger backlash this time round. The thing is to make up your own mind.

There are obviously people who work for that publication who have a deep-seated hatred of Morrissey and aren't capable of writing anything remotely positive about him.

Q used to be good but now is all they do is fill the magazine with pointless 'best of' polls and even more pointless interviews with any popstars that are over 60 years old. Or Coldplay. The editor of the magazine should be working for Smash Hits rather than turning a once decent magazine into a barrage of mindless drivel.

and remember, Q is the same magazine that championed Keane and put them on the cover of their greatest artists' issue last year.

most of their readers are mainstream music buyers who either don't listen to Morrissey or only "like" Morrissey b/c he's hip now. I'd take any comments about an album - especially a good 4 months before it's even supposed to be released - with a heavy grain of salt.

A lot of journalists seem to be so angry at him. The most angry ones are his contemporaries. Sometimes they act like spurned lovers. Is it really that upsetting to them that he didn't want to be their best mate all those years ago?

It's the same with people that have worked with him. As far as I know the music business is essentially a business of freelancers, yet there seem to be quite a few musicians still whining years later because Morrissey didn't give them a job for life.

It's baffling. Does he just attract really needy people?
