Meat Is Murder got a mention on BBC6 Music's, Marc Riley's, 'Rocket Science'.

Marc was discussing punk bands when he suddenly got to The Smiths - Meat Is Murder, of which Marc said, ' how can anybody not have a hard hitting album title such as 'Meat Is Murder' and not cause havok with it?'.

Morrissey & Marr also got crictism by Marc and his buddie saying ' Also they added to everything by not paying their drummer and bass player, and plus trouble apparently occured when Morrissey spotted Andy Rourke queuing up for a burger, MINT!!'.

I heard this. It was some bloke's wife who saw Andy queueing for a burger, not Morrissey.

Anyway, he could have been getting a vegeburger for all she knew!! (even though they were disgusting in the eighties)

All those '80s bands screaming sturm und drang, setting fire to things and trying to change the world, and Moz raises an eyebrow, takes aim, and the job is done. Meat is Murder is one of the most beautifully realized moments of cultural resistance ever.

I love the fact that commentators still blame Morrissey for the wide-spread acceptance of vegetarianism today. It's like people still blaming John Lennon for the peace movement. A greater honor cannot be imagined.
