WANNABE axe legends are in for a treat this autumn. The Smiths' bass player Andy Rourke is to teach beginners guitar and composer courses to local children.

The lessons are part of the development of the Lowry Academy, a nig new scheme involving practical arts tuition and activity for all ages, complementing the work of the venue's theatres and galleries.

Rourke run will be taking the classes on September 13, 20 and 27, then October 4, 11 and 18.

good luck to Andy Rourke, a fine musician who is prepared to share some his talent with some young people.The earlier nasty poster was really embarrassing, and poves that care in the community just isnt working.

You are heartless (Score:2, Insightful)

People have weaknesses, and people make mistakes. And I respect Andy for recognizing his mistakes and overcoming his addiction.

If he was still using drugs, I could understand why you would be worried about his choice to teach children. But he isn't.

He is no longer a "smack user" so quit acting like he is.

Have a little empathy for another man's struggle.
