Not sure if the following has been mentioned previously - but here are details anyway should they be of interest.
"BFI 19th London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival 2005"
"There's a Morrissey theme running through part of the programme: Is It Really So Strange? examines the cult of Morrissey in Los Angeles; we mark the 50th anniversary of A Rebel Without A Cause; The Leather Boys (used for The Smiths' video 'Girlfriend in a Coma'), and The Nomi Song about one of Morrissey's favourites, the extraordinary falsetto Klaus Nomi." (abut the festival)
"Is It Really So Strange?"
"A gay film-maker investigates the cult of Mancunian singer Morrissey which has developed in Los Angeles. There's a whole new brand of Morrissey fan among the Latinos and Hispanics of LA. Fans, gay and straight, discuss what Morrissey and his music and lyrics mean to them. Desire, self-identity and devotion collide as the complexities of the star's life and art are dissected by his devotees. The tattoos, the stalking, the look-alikes, it's a tremendous picture of a fascinating subculture. Screening as part of a William E. Jones retrospective at Tate Modern in association with the LLGFF."

Of course you have to mention the STALKING when talking about the LA fans. What? Morrissey is going to live here and get privacy? No way does that happen.
It's a shame. Sad but true.
