"There Is A Light..." - 39th Greatest Love Song of all time in E.W.

Just saw this today in Issue #807 of Entertainment Weekly (Sin City cast on cover). The Smiths' "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" named the 39th greatest love song of all time. The magazine has ranked the top 50 love songs in preparation for Valentine's Day. Sandwiched between Seal's "Kiss From a Rose" and Captain and Tennille's "Love Will Keep Us Together", here is the text that accompanies the rank:

"If a 10-ton truck kills the both of us/To die by your side--Well the pleasure, the privilege is mine." Morrissey may be romance' great (often hilarious) cynic, but he's also the most adept at capturing its twisted side: to be so obsessed you don't care if you die.

for this song to be number 39, it just goes to show how much of an acquired taste Morrissey's music is. You just can't get more romantic than this song. Props to the Beatles and Elvis, but I think Morrissey's gotta be rubbing elbows with them in the top 5.
