Colin Meloy Sings Morrissey EP - Pitchfork review

Excerpt:

Morrissey worship incites antisocial obsessions, insomniac eBay skulking, and impassionate conversation nonstarters about the irony of Mozzer's perceived miserablism-- but few transcendent covers. Like coddled infants, the former Smiths frontman's songs may just be inseparable from their progenitor. So how can the Decemberists' Colin Meloy hope to succeed where David Bowie, Jeff Buckley, Hootie & the Blowfish, and t.a.T.u. all failed? He can't.

They review a six-track EP and only mention 5 of the songs. It's the musicological equivalent of visiting the dentist to be told you need teeth out, only the dentist forgets to mention how many.

I like it. It's nothing spectacular but it certainly is very listenable. Though I have to admit I'm a bit of a sucker for Smiths/Moz covers.
