Johnny Marr is 'Shameless' at Christmas

Helvissa writes:

Apparently, Johnny Marr has done the music for the Christmas special of "Shameless", the brilliant, gritty comedy set on a Manchester council estate about one of the most dysfunctional families ever. The plot is, ironically, about the theft of some meat that makes people ill.

It will be shown on Channel 4 on 23rd December at 9pm.

Finally something decent on at Chrimbo! (Score:0)
That show is fantastic and definitely one of the TV highlights of the year. I did read that Marr was contributing music to its soundtrack, but I didn't think it's be back on till the new series next year. Excellent.

If it is anything like the "Worst Family In Britain" sketch by Monty Python, then it should be riot!

Just thinking back now, to the fifteen or so years since The Smiths split.... Johnny Marr has done NOTHING of any worth, musically, since then. His dalliance with THE THE was more than alright - but that had far more to do with the album, Mindbomb, and the strength of Matt Johnson's songs, than with Johnny's "contribution". THE HEALERS? Pah, don't make me laugh... ELECTRONIC? Vile elevator muzak...
Perhaps he feels he has nothing to prove, following his incredible output with The Smiths... But he has A LOT to prove - at least his former writing partner has gone on to produce consistently interesting stuff. Johnny appears to have swallowed his own hype, and probably a lot of the Oasis zeitgeist, and ended up seeming as if he's just another mediocre Northern chancer.
