Whether you like it or not, Slum Mums is interesting. Back to Moz' very British fascination with hard-done-by lasses. Not a drop of L.A. in there. Want to hear the whole track.

Lovely guitars on Public Image. Recalls "Please, Please..." for me. Moz writing posthumously and wistfully.

No One Can Hold...never heard the original (is it anywhere on the 'net?). Reminds me of Da Smiths. Moz gives it a young sounding vocal.

Hey ! I think the voice in Public Image sounds more like the late Smiths/Early solo Morrissey than anything since. These b-sides sound very good to me. Musically interesting, and simple. Slum mums has a Jack the Ripper studio sound. I can't wait to hear the chorus'...They're both creepy... that's the Morrissey I love. Whisping, beautiful, dark ballads aimed at abstract notions.... rather than specific people... Exactly what I was hoping for.... I can't wait for a complete B-Sides collection I can mix and arrange over and over. I think I'll Prefer it to the album.

P.S. Candle is identicle to what you'd expect, but it sounds good ! Is it still a cover or did he just steal it ?

Well some of you might know the song "Cemetry Gates". Having listened to "The Public Image" on yatq.net I believe the songs are linked. But in the new song the narrator (o.k. it is Moz himself) is a member of those who make the visitor want to cry. Because he is gone forever. Gates closed. Chapter closed. The Public Image is what is left for the living. And it is the last song we will get.

Not sure how that will pan out knowing Frank Skinners usual interview technique. Moz will not be amused by any of his smut (though am quite partial myself).

Part of me wants the b-sides to be fantastic so that I can enjoy 2 great new Moz compositions.

But the other part of me really wishes he'd stop chucking out brilliant b-sides when there are several mediocre songs on the album!

Please ignore my ill-informed rebuke to uncleskinny above about b-sides that I got mixed up - 'Daddy's voice' isn't one of the three! I need to upgrade, but also I'm fraught, and here's why, if you would 'let me cry on your shoulder’ for a second?!

Yesterday, after putting in heroic productivity while suffering conflicting instructions being breathed down my neck, I only encountered mean criticism – ’50 miles of shit’!. I took a heated stand, and when charged with shouting (standard gas-lighting technique) I paused and pointed out to the boss that he goes round swearing and cursing and shouting at people constantly, which is not commendable behaviour, and I’ve heard people complaining about him for years! All too true. I hauled myself in reluctantly today, only, curiously, and thankfully, to be given wide berth. Still I reckon I can expect ‘another brick in the small of the back again’ shortly, with colleagues relieved they’re not being hit on, but ‘too afraid to show intelligence, it might smear their lovely careers’.

What is the litany of weekdays about in IHFJ? Is it about the working week? Does Morrissey have enough ‘friend(s) on the payroll’ to understand what it’s like, as I would imagine he has more control over his time and less need to be accountable on a daily basis than most. For many people I know though, it describes an oppressed employee’s plight painfully well. Is this unusual? Or am I interpreting Morrissey all wrong? Does anyone recognise this dynamic?

When you apply for leave, you must be going for an interview. When your boss applies for leave, it 's because he or she is overworked.
