Amazing news for those in LA. Nancy's version of LMKY was just wonderful as were the backing vocals but the production and musical arrangement were just stunning.

    You lucky things !

I quite like her voice, although I have never heard her live. She is one of those types of people that seem to exude kindness . . . to me, at least - like one's kindly aunt. However, something worries me: does she actually write her songs or their lyrics? It seems strange that the only song of hers that anybody has gotten excited about recently was written by Morrissey, and then there are those other ones by Jarvis Cocker, and some others whose names escape me. Did she write 'Boots'?

I saw Nancy over the summer at Randall's Island in NYC as part of Little Steven's Underground Garage Festival (brought to us by Dunkin' Donuts). She wasn't bad but she wasn't too hot, either. Her set bounced from the 1960s to 2004 and there didn't seem too smooth a transition between the tunes. For instance, the new tune written by Sonic Youth (which sounds a lot like Nico) sung between one of her Lee Hazlewood collaborations and another of her older numbers seemed awkward, contrived, and insincere. LMKY sounded good, but I can think of other Moz-written tunes that are better. These Boots Were Made For Walking however, was brilliant and always sounds good...it might even be worth it for that song alone.

And don't forget that Nancy Sinatra is definitely one of the most attractive geriatrics on the face of the earth. She's much better looking than a ton of women 40 years her junior.

Well, it didn't. Do you reckon she and Sir had to have a little chat in the kitchen one day last week?! Poor Moz - there's no reason he couldn't re-launch Nancy aside from the apparent shrugging of shoulders amongst the public. I personally don't own either her single or the album, couldn't find them.

The day the single was released, my HMV was all out of the Nancy single (a good thing) so I got the James Maker and Remma ones. But it never resurfaced. I wonder how she feels about giving a certain amount of career control over to Moz?

I thought her version of LMKY sounded identical to Moz's (I'd never heard it before). Oh and right before she played the song, she introduced it as being written by "her mentor, Morrissey" and during the song there was a slide show of pics of her and Moz! I think I may have been one of only like 5 people in the audience who knew who he was!
