Just a follow up for everyone who took the time to sign the DVD petition. I'm sending the petition on to Sanctuary on Monday 27th Sept, so if anyone hasn't yet signed it, please do so now. I have less signatories than I was hoping for, so hopefully a last minute rush will add quite a bit more. Either way, it goes off on Monday.

seems kinda silly, but I signed it anyways. I don't think it will really have much of an affect, really. Suppose it can't hurt, though.

I too would love to see the MEN gig released, I was there and have fond memories of it. It was a good mix of tracks and vocally was superb. How Soon Is Now would have been nice to see on there but hey.

That said I dont think this DVD will happen. The royalties issue of the Smiths tracks wont go away methinks

      Love to you all

I'm not sure if this will make much of an impact, but I'm all for it regardless: I was at both concerts and thought that they were both fantastic (my favourite of the two being MOVE) and I would love to see them released on DVD.

I'm doubtful of a release for MOVE, but I think the MEN one is certainly one to go for, considering both that it was the homecoming gig and will, I think, go down as an event on the timeline as well as the fact that it has been mixed.

Even if they had to sell a DVD at a more than average price to account for The Smiths royalties, I'd still be prepared to pay as a DVD would be a perfect reminder of a perfect night (or perfect nights perhaps?), as well as for it being Morrissey. I'm normally pretty conservative with my money but I'm perfectly happy to overspend on Morrissey stuff.

Even if they didn't want to do a DVD, I would still be all for a new live CD: it's been a while since 'Beethoven Was Deaf', hasn't it?

I'm not sure the DVD should all be form one show (Score:1)
On "Introducing," Morrissey's performances were taken form a couple of shows. If this were done for the DVD, you could possibly end up with an even better tracklist. Stuff like "Shakespeare's Sister" "How Soon Is Now" "November" and "You Know I Couldn't Last" weren't played at the MEN show but were played at reading, which, I believe, was also filmed. So why not use the best performances of the best songs to create a video?

From what I remember, one or two songs at the MEN were slightly lacklustre, whereas he was on top form throughout Reading, so I really think this would be a better way to compile the tape.

sorry guys, but I think it is very selfish statement to try and force Sanctuary to release the DVD. Sanctuary's business is not yours.

Like it or not, they just don't. It's too easy to just put in multiple entries under different names, and so many of them are being used to collect email addresses for spam purposes that their existence is pretty much pointless.

The best way to get your voice heard on this matter is to write a letter to the relevant people at Sanctuary. Not sure if they have a dedicated post room or not, but it probably wouldn't hurt to send it by Recorded or Special Delivery so that someone has to sign for it.

You're right. No one is bending anyone's arm, just showing Sanctuary we're interested. The petition is a good idea!

We all know the video for "First Of The Gang" on the dvd cd single but has anyone seen the video played on tv? I recently saw it and was shocked to see it had interesting behind the scene footage. Scenes where the band's getting ready all suited up and mucking about...similar to the "Pregnant..." video. It also shows more of the fans packing in and coming out of the MEN Arena.

I wonder if this video will ever be released.

But has it crossed anyone's mind that Morrissey himself didn't find it as good as he would've wished it could be ? What if ? What if ?

In 2002, the gig at the Olympia in Paris was filmed too, as well as the Royal Albert Hall, these gigs were phenomenal and many rumours then spread about a DVD but nothing ever saw the light of the day.

But wait, ther might be another reason for MEN : Beethoven Was Deaf was a bit too obviously overdubbed. When it came out, it appeared very clearly that it had been mixed and remixed and replayed in order to achieve a decent overall quality. May be they had no time to overdub and replay the bad parts since the whole band has been touring over and over ?
