Do you think this is Morrissey's way of proving he can now outsell Sinatra, because I don't think her sales stand a chance compared to his b-sides which we all need to own. I wonder... If she fails to get any attention, will they just wheel her off to the nursing home and be done with her. Her voice is very interesting, I just don't think it's fair.

                    1. What is CD Maxi? Is it the same as 'First Of The Gang' with 'Teenage Dad' and 'Mexico' - i.e. DVD only compatible? If so, that's vaguely annoying, cos while I have a DVD player it's in the living room and I MUCH prefer listening to Moz (and indeed all my music) in private.

                    2. 'Friday Mourning' - erm, not sure about that title. It might grow on me, especially if that's an excellent song, but I think that's a bit of a poor pun - rather like 'King Leer' and 'Roy's Keen'.

                    3. 'I Am Two People' - this could be good, but I hope it isn't a moan about the 'duality' of being a millionaire celebrity which, like court case references, can only gain the empathy of a select few.

Still, minor quibbles - good news - I'll obviously buy both singles. 'Let Me Kiss You' is a pretty nice track too. Lovely Smithsian guitars, my favourite bit of it. And it will be nice to have 'Daddy's Voice'. Still, the lesson is, don't believe what Boz and Dean say in a bar - I understand they told one or two people that 'Daddy's Voice' was to be the Christmas single. Mind you, this makes the 'I Have Forgiven Jesus' rumour more likely I think.

I think it also tells you something about the kind of performer Moz is now seeking to be - the glitz, glamour and sparkle of the backdrop and the Bryan Ferry-esque suit rather suggests to me he sees his future as a crooner. Now, this could be a wonderful thing, befitting him as he gradually gets older but his voice gets better too. It could also signal a new direction in his music, hinted at by 'My Life Is An Endless Succession...', which could yield real fruit and prevent creative stagnation. Actually, I think Moz on the cover of LMKY looks somewhat Sinatra-esque - maybe those 'alternative Sinatra' comparisons weren't so far-fetched after all. I look forward to seeing what he does to follow YATQ up - I certainly hope he doesn't just make YATQ Part II.

mayb its about jeckle and hyde! If it is (it is probaply, isn't it?) it's a strange conincidence because at the Edinborough festival recently i was in a small play 'double bill' which i wrote, thaugh my mum made some changes to make it more contempory, the first one was 'doctor jeckle and mr hyde' for those who dont know here is the story... (dotdotdot)

there are two doctors who are brothers called jeckle. i played both of them on using a big mirror and talking to myself eg for example:

DR JECKLE 1: well dr jeckle, ive done some good experiments today i think i'll go for a walk to post a mysterious letter, i xpect er i'll have to walk thruogh the bit of town where there are vulnerable young pepole and er i may be a few hours.

DR JECKLE 2: alright you do that, er i think i'll do a few more experiments for fun and then later i might pop out for vegetarian cigarettes, and i might inexplicably have to walk thruogh that bit of town as well ect ect.

so right from the start you suspect someone but you dont know WHO you suspect. then in the next scene a vulnerable young person (played by my mum) is attacked by a strange 'figure' called Goerge W hyde who forces a hambeurger down her throat and chokes her to death. even thaugh shes choking she shouts out 'murder' in condemntion of american meat imperialism ect, which the people nearby realise and applaud. in another sense of caurse its what we'd call a 'cry for help', but they didn’t get that bit and so (tragically) she sadly died.

after that both brothers seem to suspect each other but then it turns out that there was just one dr jeckle, who was talking to himself in a mirror all along! he tracks down mr hyde and kills him accedintaly in a strugle on a roof. here is a bit of the ending to give you a 'flavour':

DR JECKLE (1&2): your the disease hyde and i'm the cure!

MR HYDE: well if your the cure i'm the remedy!

DR JECKLE (1&2): a remedy IS a cure. and i'm a quaulified doctor!

MR HYDE: right that does it i'm going to hit you. Pre-emtively!

(runs at jeckle and accidentaly falls of roof ect ect)

who he really was i xpect we will never know. the end. all coments and advise on the play are welcome. Mayb Morrissey would like to use it in the video?

Now, call me old fashioned but isnt all this too much of a coincidence? Who is Malinda bernard who owns friday-mourning.org, why does she have a quote from an artsist there who obviously loves Morrissey? Which came first Morrisseys song, or Malindas website?

A lot of people have mentioned the cover art as being better than FOTGTD or IBEH or whatever... well:

                                    I think it's absolutely appalling.

The whole bunch of cover art is basically the same picture. It's Morrissey standing in a generic pose just being Morrissey. This is a blatant publicity thing to sell more single because it is obviously by Morrissey, or just to spread his image as far as possible for familiarity.

                                    I blame Jerry Finn.

What happened to the Morrissey cover art of old, which displayed mastery of psychological imagery that enticed as much thought as his lyrics once did?

Morrissey has never been about sell sell sell, he should stop being converged to meet the "general public's" requirements.
