Funeral For A Friend: Ignoring Maiden Fans And The Mystery Behind Weird Names
by Andre Mihsin
Do the titles you pick ever have anything to do with the songs or do you pick what sounds cool?
MD: I’m a big fan of Morrissey and The Smiths and stuff like that and I think sometimes their titles didn’t have much of a representation of the actual song itself. Bands like Brand New have a tradition of obscure song titles and even more obscure lyrical content… I have a list of song titles that I want to use for the next record. Sometimes when I’m bored I just jot things down and say that’ll make a cool song title.

But is this just trying to grab a bit of deflected publicity? As this form of citing morrissey seems to be in vogue at the moment.
