Morrissey cheerful at TOTP recording

The TOTP website reports the following:

Lord Morrissey belied his Lord of the Grump image during rehearsals for the show. After each run- through of his new single, 'First Of The Gang To Die' he happily loitered on stage, dressed in a Lord of the Manor tweed jacket, shaking hands with punters in the audience, joking and signing autographs. Who'd have thought, Morrissey smiling?! If only we'd had our camera!

God I hate it when the media make it out that it's absolutely amazing that he can smile .. I mean, would they write an article about Chris Barnes from cannibal corpse saying "He was so nice when we met him, he didn't rip out our spines and eat our entrails, because that's what he sings about!!"

I don't quite understand why everyone alway has to see him and a permanently unhappy person. He smiles, he can have a good time. I've read a few interviews already where he was happy and cheerful to the person interviewing him, not the morose person everyone expects him to be all the time.

I think the media trys to make a bigger deal out of him being happy than it really is. It's certanly nice to see our dear english gentleman happy, but why the gasps of shock?

I've been loving this guy for 16 years now and I've seen him smile plenty of times...come to think of it I've NEVER seen him cry...I'd have to have a camera ready for that! :s
Who said Morrissey was a misery? Maybe in private, (no one knows that) but in public he's always looked great!
