Our local commercial station in Manchester, had it at Number 3 also.

Thanks for bringing that TOTP web page to our attention, farmersboy, and yes, Maude Lynn, it did bring back many memories, didn't it? I don't remember seeing any cameras around before the gig started, only after the show had finished, at around 2300, when nearly everyone had gone, but there you go. Thank god they didn't catch me on film for all time... Did anybody here see themselves in the promo? And who was that hugging Morrissey? Julia, I suppose... Disappointing that the video isn't the same as the one on the DVD single. Hopefully it'll turn up in better quality sometime, somewhere... I'm not feeling massively nostalgic for that wonderful May day.

Surely the fact that FOTGTD entered at #6 has to be attributed in part to a massive distribution disaster. Scores of the singles are reported to have been returned due to poor quality, resulting in entire displays being taken away from stores. Added to this, the single still hasn't reached some record emporiums, or countries for that matter. I implore everyone to buy it again, buy one as a pressie for your auntie, buy one for your dog!!! Send it to number 1!!!!!

Having taken the time to actually see a bit of all the others in the chart above Morrissey, I am comforted by the fact that they are the biggest pile of what a horse's arse wouldn't bother to keep hold of. I actually feel angry by the state of popular music having heard that load of STEAMING crap. Not technically music at all. So if the distribution thing is true and has had an effect on his sales (and judging by some of these posts it sounds like there's a whole load of Morrissey fans still trying to get their copy!!) it could be a very different story next week. Start converting your neighbours, friends and vague acquaintances, and our Moz should get the recognition he deserves! :-)

"Right, that's it, I'm telling the council this fair should be shut down... you're all frauds - very bad frauds!" you scream and storm off home.

Why are we bothered about a No.6 placing? AMAZING result for a second single - two higher than The More You Ignore Me -, well done Moz.

Looking at old moz on the charts, he is surrounded by artists half his age making booty music. ARTISTS HALF HIS AGE, MAKING DANCE MUSIC FOR PEOPLE WHO SHAKE THEIR BOOTIES. we should be extremely thankful that he's there at all. "first of the gang" is ridiculously at odds with anything else in the top 10, and it's an obvious testament to his cult following in the UK. there's no other way to explain how he could run with a group that includes the likes of Usher and Britney Spears, artists whose releases shoot for a much, much broader demographic and are purchased with little or no second thoughts in malls all over the country.

YATQ has gone back up the album chart (there has been a lot of TV advertising in the UK) to number 23 from 31 according to the BBC site. Tied in with a No. 6 placing we are living in a time of miracles.

Can anyone remember how many weeks in the chart we are now on?

Am I the only one who thinks that "First Of The Gang to Die" is a load of old tosh? It's a total rip off of Suede's "Trash", and vastly inferior at that. It almost makes Ouija Board, Ouija Board sound like a work of Wagnerian greatness, so I suppose it is an achievement of sorts.
