"Idiot singer" reference by Richard Roeper

Popstar in a Coma writes:

More press about the Bush comment. This was in Richard Roeper's column today (June 16) in the Chicago Sun-Times.

"Understand, I'm not denying the existence of more than a few liberals who truly hate President Bush. Whether it's an idiot singer saying Bush should have died instead of Reagan; photoshopped images of Bush and Cheney as Nazis; Web sites filled with personal insults; or conspiracy theorists accusing the Bush family of participating in a ludicrously diverse litany of crimes up to and including the assassination of JFK, there's some nasty, unfair, off-the-wall stuff out there. Even if you abhor everything about the Bush presidency, this is not the way for decent human beings to campaign against his re-election."

Gee, Richard Roeper is so annoying! A whole shallow column just defending any negative comments he has made about the Bush presidency and pointing out that Clinton-haters are worse than Bush-haters. Wow, what a surprise.

Then he moronically refers to Morrissey as an "idiot singer" which is so typical of his superficial observations of everything, including the movies he poorly reviews. He could say just the comment was idiotic since he obviously doesn't know Morrissey enough to NOT refer to him as an idiot. Oh well, I guess that type of critical laziness is no surprise from him, either.

What a bunch of crap! When Clinton was in office everythone trashed him out, said bad things about him and I don't remember any of these white trash Republicans saying anything about that. Now the shoe is on the other foot and they can't stand the fact that most Americans don't like Bush. Enjoy it while you can because Kerry has a much better chance than most people give him.

Look, I don't know which one you are, not that it matters, but you need to just stick to your rookie analysis of movies, and keeping the fat one occupied after the loss of his 'buddy'. You know nothing of politics...other than the war between Queen Amidala and Senator Palpatine. Freak

I don't get these weak takes from one half of on-screen duos. You never heard of Robin stepping out and speaking his thoughts on Nixon. Or Teller saying whether he prefers boxers or briefs. WE DONT CARE!

Here's a tip Roeper: Stick to what you know. Okay, so you don't know anything about good flicks. Instead, what you might want to keep doing is nod your head to everything your partner says and every so often, disagree with him and say exactly the opposite of what he just said. That shouldn't be too hard. Right? Then you can keep your weak gig, with more of an importance as an advertising hound for porn lines and weight loss gimmicks, than for an interesting and in-depth critique of current movies.

Roeper, stick to what you know: movie reviews! Leave the politics to the real know-it-alls: Morrissey and us, his minions. Look Morrissey said that Bush should have died, and you can't deal with it! I'm typing this using a Anonymous name, from a secret closet in my home, because if the Bush Administration found out I was speaking out, they would bust in and take me to Gitmo or something. They checked my library records the other day and found out I had checked out One Fish, Two Fish. I know this because an agent called me and asked me how I could read such crap! Mr. Roeper, because you support Bush, you don't have to worry about secret agents finding out about your choice of books, but it scares the hell out of me! One more thing, I'd like to see you try and create something as lyrically compelling as "well America, you know where you can shove your hamburger." You can't, so keep hiding behind your educated opinions Mr. Roeper, and by the way, you know where you can shove your hamburger! I'm American, and I once had a hamburger shoved somewhere, but it was my dog's toy hamburger (I sort of liked it). It was after lots of cheap wine, but I don't think that Morrissey is openly saying I should do this, that's why it's so genius! Like One Fish, Two Fish, you have to read into it to understand it.

I don't agree with Roeper of course and his silly little rant (right-wingers, of all people, cannot play the "is there no decency??" card when it comes to public attacks). Those crazy f*ckers tore into Clinton over a BJ. I think we've a little more right to think Bush and Reagan were mindless bastards.

I didn't like the Dixie Chicks anyway, and I don't care a whole lot for Coldplay, so their remarks just rolled off my back. But hearing an artist I love make an insulting comment about the president just made me wince, and made me respect him less.

I was never a big Clinton fan, but I'd never make a "joke" about how nice it would be if he were to die.
