1. Glowing review in The Sun (link). 100% positive:
MORRISSEY reclaimed his place at the top of UK music with a terrific comeback at the Manchester Evening News Arena. He was in top mic-swinging form, joking: “I’m honoured to be in the UK charts with such greats as FRANKEE and EAMON.” Mozzer played half his new album, You Are The Quarry, as well as classics such as Everyday Is Like Sunday.
Welcome back to a true legend.
2. Several articles appear in The Times newspaper concerning the gig (Moz also appears at the top of the front page). One article is written by Franz Ferdinand! The newspaper gives the gig 3 out of 5.
Links:
1, 2, 3
3. ManchesterOnline (the MEN website) gives the gig 5 out of 5. (link)
4. From NME.com - "sensational"!!! (link).
5. Page 354 of Channel 4's teletext gives the gig 8 out of 10. Big 4-page review. Only real criticisms are I'm Not Sorry (for being a poor song not improved live) and No One Can Hold A Candle To You (for being too self-indulgent).
6. Finally, a negative review in today's The Independent newspaper. Basically says Moz ran out of steam half-way through and that "the light may now have finally gone out". (link).
So, overall, A TRIUMPHANT RETURN!!! (More than makes up for the ever-so-slightly disappointing number 2 chart position of YATQ!)
