No Morrissey on MTV? Independent labels dispute with MTV

The NME has an article about how independent record labels are threatening to refuse the new deal MTV is offering them to show videos featuring their artists. Sanctuary Records is named as one of the labels that would be likely to take part in an expected boycott.

Not exactly good news for Morrissey - signed to Sanctuary, it would mean that his videos for 'Irish Blood, English Heart' and subsequent singles would not be able to appear on any of the MTV music channels.

What Moz needs to worry about is VH1 and Fuse, not MTV. Besides, who do you know over the age of 25 AND is a potential Moz listener that watches MTV for its music?

We have done without MTV's support for so many years. Do we really need it now? I've heard the arguement that MTV is just for teens, and that would make MOZ commercial and a sell out. Even though i am not a fan of MTV, I dont agree on the constant bashing of young teenage listners to Morrissey's music. it was many many years ago, in my formative teenage years, right after the smiths, but before morrissey's solo carrer thati fell in love with his music. that was over 15 years ago for me. The smiths fans said that i was a fake fan, but i am still here. after all, "all moz wants is to be famous" thanx Morrissey......you dont find his music, his music finds you
