I mentioned this How Soon is Now? cover by after all... on my website last month. They now have the full song for download on their website, in the media section. It is a very interesting version of the song: metal! Don't be fooled, the singer is a woman.

Oh my good god, what on earth is this pile of crap? I had no idea what was said by the singer at all until about the middle of the second verse as it is screamed from start to finish. Save yourself the trip to this site and IGNORE it if you value anything about the original. Im still in shock, utter utter crap, I am sorry if i offended anyone by saying so but this destroys a wonderful record in every possible way.

I just listened to it just to hear what a female metal singer would sound like (and because it was a Smiths song). I want to say that in no shape or form am I, Tabby, a metal fan AT ALL. While she was screaming you couldn't tell that she was a she and not a he. Which you may or may not have been led on to believe if you hadn't known she was a female while she was "singing" some of the lyrics. Personally (again) I hate this type of music but that's the way it's going to sound when it's metal. I also would like to say that by the way she's "singing" and "screaming" she'll have no voice in a few years. But neither will any of the other screamer/singer's in a couple of years. Which for most--if not all-- of us will be quite a good thing when it happens.

So I emailed the band and asked them about the song and why they destroyed it. The person who responded, responded with

"We all grew up in the 80's and enjoyed the smiths and alot of other stuff from the era. We just decided it would be alot of fun to take a song that we grew up with and just have some fun with it, we never intended for the song to be anything like it started out as because we can site several exact copy's of the song already. In the two days the link has been posted on the Morrissey website over 200 people have already downloaded the song, we just hope a few people enjoy the song and maybe enjoy some of our own music."

They were prompt and I listened to their other song available on their website and I guess it sounds like they did take the song and made it sound a lot like one of their own. I personally don’t really care for the song but I understand where these guys are coming from. It doesn’t hurt that the girl that sings for the band is an attractive girl either.
