In today's "Friday Review" section of the Guardian an article with two pictures one taken of The Smiths from the sleeve of The Queen Is Dead, and a similar one of the author of the article Will Woodward and his mates outside The Salford Lads Club appears alongside a page long article about both the history of the photo and the relationship between the band, the club, and you and me, Smiths devotees.
Its a great article by the journalist who obviously is both a fan and a journalist writing about something that means a lot to both him and fans.
From the article it appears the club owners eventually realised that the was a business oppurtunity to be had as they now have opened a room called "The Smiths Room". Fans from as far as Mexico, Latvia, and Guatemala make pilgrims to the famous club. The club now allows fans to make their own contribution by submitting memorabilia to add to the rooms tribute to the band.
