"By Grand Central Station I Sat and Wept" ... Figgis movie?

An anonymous person writes:

I came across this item while surfing the net on a site called Hollywood Stock Exchange. Apparently, there were plans to make a movie out of Elizabeth Smart's "By Grand Central Station I Sat and Wept" with Mike Figgis (timecode, Leaving Las Vegas) directing. (link)

His current Internet Movie Database profile doesn't list it.
Has anyone else heard about this?

Guess they didn't find enough financial sponsors
to make the film, or the producer/label scrapped
it in favour of another film.

Would love to see the book get filmed though,
maybe it's still in the pipeline, who knows?

      Sorry to be nitpicky.

Elizabeth Smart's book is entitled By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept.

      Yes, it makes a difference.
